Sonify: Orlando is a locative media, sound-art piece, created by Jeff Knowlton, that works on participants’ Android phones and tablets. The app, utilizing GPS functionality, a moving map, and recorded sounds, unfolds as the participant walks along Magnolia avenue. Sonify: Orlando will premier in Art In Odd Places 2015: Tone Orlando.

Beginning at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and ending at the Orange County Regional History Center, the Sonify: Orlando app identifies where the participants are located and automatically triggers playback of recorded sounds as they move south to north, east side of the street or west, north to south. Hotspots on the moving map identify where sounds can be encountered.
